Reusable pallet lid with no wrapping film (2021)
Pallet lids are a securing method for securing a load on a pallet without extra packaging material such as wrapping film and straps. Loadhog's new pallet lids are returnable and reusable. This system is already saving 108 million metres of wrapping film a year worldwide.
The Loadhog pallet lid is a waste-free pallet security system: the cover is placed on top of the stack of crates or boxes on the pallet and secured with retractable straps and an integrated tension mechanism. The load is thus safely secured, with a minimum risk of damage to the products. After use, the pallet cover can be removed quickly and easily. The lid comes in different formats (Euro, Half Euro, UK and US), so it can be used all over the world to secure a variety of container and other packaging solutions.
108 million metres of wrapping film
Traditionally, companies use packaging materials such as wrapping film and banding to secure a pallet load: the film is wrapped around the load manually or with a stretch wrapping machine and secured to the pallet. After transport, the packaging is cut loose and discarded. This one-off use costs around 108 million metres of (wrapping) film annually. In addition, wrap film offers little protection to the wrapped load: many products that are secured to a pallet with film are damaged during transport.
The Loadhog pallet cover can be applied in twenty seconds, saving time and labour: applying stretch film takes two to three minutes. Transporting pallets with Loadhog lids is more efficient and environmentally friendly: it saves 40% in transport volume (in a 40ft trailer) and reduces CO2 emissions. The lashing straps are made to measure and an anti-collision device provides seals for maximum security.
Fully recyclable
After purchase, Loadhog pallet lids are used in returnable flows e.g. from a distribution center to stores or in the distribution centers to move loads from one area to another. With daily use, the lids are in need of repair after six to seven years. This concerns only the 'cassette' with the retractable straps; this is a mechanic system that needs repairing over time. The cassette can be replaced to ensure the longevity of the lid. The Loadhog lid is made of polypropylene (made out of recycled material and a small part of virgin material) which can be recycled completely.
